Prevention: your annual check-up
At Dentius Tervuren, we recommend an annual check-up to maintain good oral health and ensure maximum reimbursement from your health insurance.
During the check-up, the dentist examines the teeth and gums, detects cavities or other issues, and determines whether a dental X-ray is needed. You also receive advice on oral hygiene, tooth brushing, and flossing.
A (bi)annual scaling and professional dental cleaning helps prevent cavities, gingivitis, periodontitis, and bad breath. Regular check-ups at our dental practice in Tervuren help avoid costly treatments and maintain your reimbursement.

Endodontics: root canal treatments
Our dental practice in Tervuren specializes in endodontics, including devitalization and treatment of dental infections. All procedures are performed using an operating microscope, ensuring more accurate diagnosis, thorough root canal cleaning, and a better long-term prognosis.
During a root canal treatment, the infected nerve is removed and the root canals are cleaned and disinfected to preserve the natural tooth. Thanks to microscopic endodontics, hidden canals and complex dental anatomy can be treated more effectively.
We also perform endodontic retreatments when pain persists after a previous root canal treatment or when an apical infection or inflammation is visible on X-ray or CBCT scan.

Implantology: implants as fixed tooth replacement
When one or more teeth are missing, they can be permanently replaced with dental implants. An implant is a titanium or zirconia screw placed in the jawbone, where it integrates through osseointegration. A crown, bridge, or denture is then attached. A 3D scan (CBCT) is often performed beforehand to accurately assess bone volume.
Implants can be used to replace a single tooth, multiple teeth with an implant-supported bridge, or to stabilize a removable denture (overdenture) with improved retention. This treatment restores chewing function, aesthetics, and speech, providing a durable fixed tooth replacement.
At Dentius Tervuren, experienced dentists and implantologists use modern techniques to place dental implants safely and precisely, with a high success rate and natural integration into the dentition.

Stomatology: extractions, wisdom teeth and jaw surgery
Sometimes a tooth extraction is necessary due to deep decay, a fractured tooth, or positional problems. Wisdom teeth often cause issues due to lack of space and can be removed by the dentist or, in more complex cases, by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon. The procedure is usually performed under local anesthesia, and jawbone healing takes several weeks.
After tooth loss, a tooth can be replaced with a dental implant in the jawbone, often planned using a 3D scan (CBCT). In cases of dental trauma, the dentist can restore damage with composite and monitor healing. Our dentists also treat jaw cysts and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, such as jaw pain, clicking sounds, or bruxism.

Periodontology: treatment of gum disease
Periodontology focuses on the prevention and treatment of gum diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis, which affect the gums and jawbone. These conditions are usually caused by dental plaque and tartar and can lead to bleeding gums, bad breath, gum recession, and tooth loss.
At Dentius Tervuren, our periodontists treat gum disease with professional dental cleaning, scaling, and root planing (deep cleaning of the roots). In more severe cases, periodontal treatment or surgery may be required. Regular check-ups help control periodontitis and maintain healthy gums and good oral health.

Crowns and bridges: restoration of damaged teeth
When a tooth is severely damaged by decay, trauma, root canal treatment, or large fillings, a ceramic crown or bridge may be required to restore and strengthen the tooth. These dental restorations restore both function and aesthetics.
During treatment, the tooth is prepared and a digital scan or impression is taken. A custom-made crown or bridge is then fabricated in a dental laboratory to match the shape and color of your teeth. A temporary crown is placed until the final restoration.
Depending on the situation, options include inlays, onlays, crowns, veneers, or a bridge to replace one or more missing teeth. At our dental practice in Tervuren, dentists use modern techniques to seamlessly integrate crowns and bridges into the natural dentition.

Pediatric dentistry: dental care for children
At Dentius Tervuren, children are welcome for pediatric dentistry and preventive oral care. A first dental visit is recommended around the age of 2.5 years to help children get used to the dentist and to guide parents on brushing and oral hygiene.
Baby teeth can also develop cavities and must be properly cared for. If needed, the dentist treats cavities with a white filling (composite) to protect the permanent teeth.
For good oral health, it is important to brush twice a day, limit sugar and soft drinks, and attend regular dental check-ups. This helps build a strong foundation for children’s oral health.

Orthodontics: correction of teeth and bite
Orthodontics corrects misaligned teeth, malocclusions (incorrect bite), and jaw growth problems. Proper alignment improves not only the smile but also chewing, speech, and oral hygiene. An initial orthodontic screening is recommended between ages 7 and 9, but adults can also start orthodontic treatment.
Depending on the case, options include fixed braces, clear aligners, removable appliances, or lingual braces. Treatment begins with an examination and digital scans, followed by regular check-ups and a retainer to maintain results.
Orthodontic treatment results in straight teeth, improved oral hygiene, reduced risk of cavities and gum disease, and a better bite.
